Some people only like elephants for their tusks and trunks but there is much more to them than that! Elephants have massive bodies with legs just like huge tubes. The legs help them carry their body around. Their body is brown or gray and it's thick and wrinkly, they also, have lengthy, flexible trunks. The trunk adds a good addition to the elephant and also helps to drink, eat, and breath. With the elephant trunk it blasts blaring trumpet-like sounds when blasting air blows through it. Imagine what that sounds like! Another use for the trunk is for communication. The ability to communicate is important because if they could not communicate this would impose a major challenge for elephant herds. The trunks also help because friends and relatives say hello by entwining their trunks. So you can see, trunks have a big impact on elephants, and here are two more examples, elephants run water across their body for a nice shower, and to protect their skin from insects, they throw dust on their skin. This actually helps. Mothers are very protective of with their calf. But if there bad mothers can slap their calf. So there are many many uses for trunks. But, there is still more to know like, they are biggest land creature on earth! Think about how many animals there are! They are also maybe the smartest creature and can recognize their own shadow! Really smart aren't they? This was just a few facts about the amazing creature, the elephant!
